Under the Influence by Joyce Maynard

Crisis Communications, Media Relations

Under the Influence is one of Joyce Maynard’s many novels. Joyce Maynard is a well-known book author known best for her New York Times best-selling memoir, At Home in the World about her relationship as a youth with J.D. Salinger, Catcher in the Rye.

CDPR created a campaign complimenting standard media initiatives from Under the Influence’s publisher, Morrow/Harper Collins. Media outreach included female leadership columnists, general busines, consumer and lifestyle media outlets, and a separate campaign bolstering Joyce Maynard’s profile to counteract lingering opinion from At Home in the World that that she didn’t have a right to speak out about  J.D. Salinger, author of Catcher in the Rye, according to the thought belief that she’d ruined his reputation as a hero in the literary world.  At Home in the World is about a relationship Joyce Maynard had with J.D. Salinger in which she felt she’d been exploited as a young girl.
